The

modern principles of acoustics. The symphonic erhu,
known as qinhu, was unveiled in 2003 at the Beijing
International Exhibition Centre, arousing widespread international
interest. Its development has inspired musicians in their creative
endeavors by expanding the expressive space for Chinese music,
while presenting audiences with a refreshing and modern musical
experience.
The
120-strong Orchestra will be performing both new creations and
traditional music at the Esplanade Concert Hall from 2-4 May 2008,
bringing the innovative sounds of the qinhu to
audiences in Singapore for the first time in their concert
series entitled “Chinese Melodies in Symphony”.
The Orchestra will be presenting three distinctive program lineups
for each of their three nights in Singapore.
For the
inaugural night, the Orchestra will regale audiences with music

River Piano Concerto” by pianist Jiang Zhi Hua; “Rise Up Terracotta
Warriors” and duet “Libimo ne’lirti calici”. Ms Chang
Pei-yu, Professor of Xi'an Conservatory of Music and Conductor of
Oriental National Symphony Orchestra, will conduct at the first

Armed Forces Music and Drama Company and prominent composer
